Let me tell you my history in the world of SEO. Back in 1997 I first go onto the true Internet. I had been surfing around with local Bulletin Boards, which were much like today's Forums, but I hadn't had real true Internet access. I hadn't used a browser and actually surfed the Internet. Then my local telephone company offered Internet access. I had to have it and got it right away. Having some basic programming/markup skills I was soon developing websites of my own on one of the free hosts back then, GeoCities, AngelFire, etc.

Soon after that I saw a banner ad at the top of some website I had visited, that said I could make money with my computer. This seemed a bit too good to be true, but I had to investigate. Their pitch was that I put a banner on my own website which would link to their website. If anyone came along from my website and spent money on theirs, they'd give me a commission. I was skeptical but since I had a website already it was easy enough to throw a banner on it, so I did.

About half way through the next month I received mail from the company. I figured it was a sales pitch or something, but it looked mysteriously like a check. I opened the envelope and much to my amazement, it was a check for $20! Someone who visited my website, clicked the banner and spent some money at the other site. I had a commission!

At this point I was hooked. Yes, it was only $20, but it only took me about one minute of work, if you can even call uploading a file work. So, on it went with this process. I soon realized that if I was listed on the 1st page of the results, I would get more traffic. More traffic means more money. More money means a happier BK! For me, having a happy BK is important! So I began to investigate why some site were listed at top of the listings, and others not around. Back then it was pretty easy stuff. It's much harder today.
